The Village of Evergreen Park needed to upgrade their water pumping
station and renovate their Public Works facility. The new pump
system required more than double the physical space of the existing
pumps, so an addition was required. The addition was located to
take advantage of the existing water main routing from the 1,000,000
gallon reservoir immediately adjacent to the public works facility. The existing
pump room was converted into offices for the Public Works Department,
and the addition was connected to the existing facility via an enclosed
link.
The exterior of the addition and existing
public works building were coordinated
to allow the building to appear as one facility. The existing
building consisted of an antiquated 1950's appearance and various
non-coordinated tack on additions over the years. The design and
construction of the addition required close coordination between the
Village's Civil Engineer (who designed the water pumping system) the
piping and pump contractor, the building contractor, and the Public
Works Department. |
