The Client manufactures and assembles fast food restaurant drive thru
menu boards. Their products are manufactured in numerous
languages, and are used throughout the world. The existing
operation was spread across numerous smaller buildings in Evergreen
Park. They wanted to centralize their production facilities. The project required renovating an existing abandoned
car dealership, and building a manufacturing addition in the area that was once the new car
parking lot. The project fronts on a main street, with a
residential district behind the site. The site is located in an
area that has mixed light industrial and commercial uses. Due to
the adjacent commercial and residential uses, it was desired that the
building not look like a manufacturing facility. At the same time
the client wanted a building that would be cost effective to build and
operate. The resulting design incorporates a mix of commercial and
residential forms and materials. The addition incorporated design
features that were part of the original building. |
