Our Saviors Lutheran Church Entry Addition

Burbank, IL (AIA Design Award)       

The majority of the church groups events and meetings are held in the lower level of this facility.  Access to the lower level was by stair only. The existing toilet facilities were inadequate (not handicap compliant). In addition, the entry to the church was confining for the number of people passing through the main doors after services, weddings and funeral processions. No exterior coverage was available during inclement weather. The airlock vestibule was too shallow and opening both doors to the outside became a problem in the winter.

A covered entry with a small addition to house an elevator, handicap toilets and a larger vestibule was provided.  The details of the addition were designed to complement the existing exterior design of the Church.
